Benediction

Georgetown Day School
The air is my enemy,
I must guard myself against its chill.
God bless my closed window upon its windowsill.
Time is my enemy,
The days are too short and too quickly night.
God bless I get enough done, and some of it right.
Snow-so pretty-is my enemy,
It mocks me, makes me late when I have no time for delay.
God bless my arms for shoveling the mounds from my driveway.
Even you, you are my enemy,
When I have little left to give, asking me for more
God bless you though for asking and keeping open your door.
I am my own enemy
When I cannot see the good this winter brings
God bless me especially when I am like this, loving nothing.
Let's not be enemies,
Let's sit together, talk and share and eat
God bless us all the time when we are apart and here, now, as we meet.
